The plant populations surviving in the refugia of the area could develop into endemic species. Saint Stephen's Pink (Dianthus plumarius ssp. regis-stephani) and Hungarian Seseli (Seseli leucospermum) can only be found in the dolomite grasslands of the Transdanubian Hills. The range of the Buda White-beam (Sorbus semiincisa) is limited to the Buda Hills and the neighbouring Pilis. One of the most famous species of the Hungarian flora is the Dolomite Flax (Linum dolomiticum), which occurs nowhere else in the world.
